A post about the post
and a note about manners

Stamps, that is. I think these are among the nicest I've seen in a while.

The series is called Beautiful Blooms. Thank you, U.S. Post Office. What better way to send a little puff of spring through the mail? Husband used to pay his bills with commemorative stamps of B52 bombers, and ever since I've had an appreciation for the message of a stamp.

Boring? Perhaps. But it's my blog, and these make me happy. Anonymous poster: Can you see my middle finger pointed at the screen displaying your comment? You know what they say: If you can't say anything nice, shut the fuck up. Or go lurk someone else's blog. Yeah—maybe I'm being a little touchy about this, but I think when you read and comment on someone's blog, you're sort of like a guest. If you behaved like this at my house I would not invite you back.

i say block anonymous posters. you can choose to lurk anonymously, but the blog tracker tells your location. could it be that you just don't like our democratic candidates??? hmmmmm... smells funny.

Okay ready for this, I really seriously am not raining on your parade but I just found out today that May 1st, stamps go up another .01, can you BELIEVE THAT? There is a stamp out there right now that you can purchase though that does not have a denomination on it, so I am told, and you can use it for all of the forthcoming increases, so it is like an investment!

Sorry about your anonymous blogger poster person, I just don't publish those comments. I only had one, but it was enough!

OK, I am running out tomorrow to buy those stamps for the baby announcements. I know just what you mean ... I remember being so particular about the stamps we chose for our wedding invitations. And when it comes time to send out my holiday cards, I always make sure the stamp matches the recipient's holiday, be it Christmas or Chanukah.

I just read Jilly's comment ... guess that will be my incentive to get the announcements out ASAP!

Anonymous: Um, no. You sound like kind of an ass hat.

Sabina: The ass hat lives in Hayward. I guess that's justice right there.

Jilly: I know! Didn't postage just go up?? I'm mailing out requests for donations for my daughter's school's silent auction, so I'll use them up by then. I've seen those stamps with no denomination, which is a good idea, but they're nearly as pretty. That said, I'll probably buy them next time.

Cute stamps!

Did you hear, though, that the cost of stamps is going up AGAIN in a couple months? If only my paycheck increased with such frequency...

hayward indeed. good golly, did you know there's a big crack in the ground called a fault line??? the HAYWARD fault line...don't fall in. (apologies to all the lovely people interned in the locale).

Clearly many folks had the same reaction I did: Beautiful stamps, isn't postage going up again soon?! Crazy, isn't it? By the time Manimal and SS#1 are grown, it might be cheaper to hop a plane and deliver the darn letters yourself!

The stamps are very pretty - more importantly

Anonymous - If you can't say something nice - or at the very least interesting/entertaining - shut the f____ up!

Those are my second favorite stamps-I really love the ones with the vegetables and sunflowers too!

I hope the cost of sending junk mail is going up at the same rate the cost of sending regular mail is.

I love those! I'm so ready for spring. REAL spring. Not, snow, rain, hot, snow, hot, rain, snow...
It's hard on my kid's allergies.

BTW, everytime you leave a comment for me, it brightens my day. Always beautifully said.
Thanks friend. :)

I saw those stamps when I was last at the post office, but sadly, the post mistress had just convinced me to buy some ugly valentine's hearts before I saw those. They're so springy and pretty!

Too funny re the anonymouse poster; I had been thinking the same thing (what you said, not her/him)!!

Interesting stamps. The Chinese stamps of the early 60s were also very striking - and around the time of Apollo XI, the tiny kingdom of Bhutan issued the world's first 3D stamps!

There's a lurker or two among us who is "anonymous" when they decide to be an a-hole. Not really so "anonymous" when you do a little digging, but an a-hole just the same.

Cute stamps, though!

I love fun stamps (my mom was a postmaster, so she always put a sheet of pretty stamps inside a card as a gift), but now postage rates go up so often it's hard to keep up. I still have some with bulbs, I think, that are from two "postage rates" ago.
