Husband catalog shops—NOT

Would your husband wear this?

I'm just wondering. Because Husband received this catalog in the mail the other day. And he wants to know why anyone would send such a catalog to him. Since he is the manly guy he is, you know.

He is disturbed, but I am intrigued. On their website, one of the categories is titled "Night Out." Could you possibly pass up a night out with someone wearing this?

Not in a hot minute. And how cute is this??

Oh, but wait. That's a different kind of night out. And even though I wouldn't trade my Carhardtt-clad husband (he won't even wear argyle—he calls it "that Charlie Brown pattern"), I sometimes miss my single days with a particular friend who took me dancing at gay bars (no line for restroom!) and to a floor show at a drag bar (where on the way to the restroom I accidentally wandered into a labyrinth of those little . . . you know, rooms), was the best gossip ever, and would have looked great in all of these shirts. We lost touch after I moved to the other side of the country. He made it through big days of the AIDS epidemic (we used to page through the massive obit. section in the Washington Blade stunned at how many so young and so pretty were gone), and I wonder every once in a while if he ever met the husband dreamed of. He would have really loved one in Carhardtt.

okay, so i'll tell you my BIL would not order or buy it off the rack, but believe me if they appeared in thrift town, he'd scoop it up no problem, but then again, he's a very secure, hippie raised california man, who likes to pair his brooks brother and hickie freeman suits (also from thrift town), with hot pink button downs. he's a fan of ironic dressing. a mild version of performance art--if you will. that said, B has GQ down, and wouldn't touch those items if you paid him. is husband fearful of being mistaken for a gay man? yes, they do make the rounds with video to expand their mailing list. tee hee.

My guy would rather be caught dead than in those shirts. He will wear your lavender, pink, french blue shirts with semi-coordinating tie like any other guy for work, sans tie for weekend, but if I try to spring something a little more "fashionable" he runs for the hills (I was the one that got him his J.Crew sweaters).

It was me that got him his slim-fit Levi jeans (because while he said he liked slim fit b/c he is Asian and as such, slimmer build he won't get them himself) and was a bit dismayed when they were distressed in that "purposefully distressed" sort of way that I didn't even notice. Now he wears them. Haha, I win!

Like Sabina's B, The Aussie has the GQ concept down (even subscried to it at one point). Still, he is a more jeans and polo shirt kinda guy, though like I said before button down shirts make an appearance, with the sleeves rolled up and such.

The most "trendy" thing he ever purchased was black leather Converses, the ones Will Smith wore in "I Robot." I'm guessing since Will Smith wore them, they were mega cool. Hardly wears them now, though as his excuse is that it's too hot to wear them. Yuh-huh.

I love that stuff. I really really love how fabulous men look dressed up metro or truly gay. It was quite the victory for me to convince Jeremy to wear a Pataloha shirt in summer. I'm working on him. I love guys who aren't afraid to be daring with their fashion just as much as I love women who are badass in their fashion. Perhaps it's because most of the people I hang out with dress in "geologist", but that's far far better than "astronomer" which should be taken into the backyard and burned for the sake of humanity...

So you're gonna get him that first shirt, right? LOVE IT.

Oh, I LOVE the first shirt!

I must tell you, though, Honey is probably hard at work trying to get your post removed from the Interwebs.

He just doesn't need me getting any hip and handsome clothing ideas for him.

My husband generally wears whatever I buy for him (save for argyle... sigh), but even he would refuse those shirts.

Those are a whole lotta ugly!

I liked the last one best.

I have a similar friend I've been wondering about.

My husband isn't fiercely manly but I know he wouldn't wear any of these.

My husband would totally wear those - or at least two of them. He's had a very cool floral shirt for a couple years now that he wears to work and out all the time. I need to know what catalog those are in!!

Not in a million years.

I really like the last one.

John says the same thing about argyle! I'm dying for him to wear sweater vests for some reason, too.

I think you should get husband one of those for his birthday just for laughs when he opens the box :)

I think my hairdresser might!

There is no way that my husband would even want to get near those shirts. They are hideous.
