What we ate: Weeks 4 and 5, sort of

So my idea to record what we eat throughout the week has been something less than a total success. My age is really showing: If I record our meal immediately after we have eaten it, we're fine. If I wait any time past the next morning—poof!—it's gone. Peeking at the leftovers Husbands packs for his lunch sometimes helps.

In a mad effort of catch up, here are menus from this week and last, with holes where my memory does not serve. We must have eaten something, but I don't know what it was.

LAST WEEK

MONDAY
beer-can roasted chicken
pureed yams with a little apricot preserves and butter
green peas
green salad

TUESDAY
pork tenderloin with sauteed onion and fennel and fennel cream
rice cooked in chicken broth
satueed greens

WEDNESDAY
cranberry soy chicken

steamed white rice
shredded satueed zucchini



THIS WEEK

MONDAY
Thai coconut soup

steamed rice
green salad

TUESDAY
spaghetti and meatballs
satueed green beans and chantrelle mushrooms
green salad

WEDNESDAY
lentil soup

pannini sandwiches
pickles and olives
green salad

THURSDAY
garlic shrimp and pasta (Cook's Illustrated—you've got to have an online subscriptiont to view)
satueed greens

FRIDAY
oven-fried fish (Cook's Illustrated)

pasta in roasted pumpkin and goat cheese sauce (inspiration from aDozenEggs' food blog Cookie Crumbs—thank you!)

green salad

SATURDAY
Can you believe it? We ate out!! Nothing remarkable: We spent all day clearing out the MIL's house for her remodel and could only manage dragging ourselves into a neighborhood place for pizza, salad, and a glass of red wine on our way home.

SUNDAY
It's time for Sunday dinner with the MIL. It's a chilly rainy day, so I'll be heating up the house by baking moussaka.

Everything looks awesome!
I made my lentil soup today, it's from Cooks Illustrated. It was a recipe they developed when I worked there as a dishwasher. So good. I'll post it later this week.

Happy (belated) Halloween! I found some pumpkin ravioli at Costco the other day and just came across a cream sauce recipe...I swear I could eat nothing but pumpkin for months!

Just wondering if you've ever cooked a ham steak?
I got a fresh, un-cured one at the Farmer's Market (they were out of tenderloin). It's not pre-cooked, so I'm not sure what to do with it.

Ham steaks: Epicurious.com has a few good ideas. There're always my first go-to with an ingredient I haven't used before.
